Hello HN, I'm excited to share a project my co-founder and I have been working on - TaleBot.

What It Does: TaleBot creates a personalized bedtime story based on parent/caregiver's inputs. You can customize the theme, the challenges (kid-friendly obstacles) the characters face, and even the moral lesson it teaches. Once the story is ready, you'll receive a PDF file, and an AI narrated voiceover of it.

Try It Out: We've made it as barrier-free as possible for you to test. Use the promo code HNFREETALE on our story creation form, and you can get a story written for free, no sign-ups required.

Looking forward to your feedback. We value your thoughts and input on our product and idea.

If the endless feed of vapid content on YouTube Kids is any indication, the future looks grim.

It's not clear that this needs money to try out... Lost all this time filling to form to end up on credit card payment screen....

Sorry about that. I didn't want to add the coupon code to title of the post, it would be a clickbait. I hope you'd been able to get the story written for free. If you made a payment, please send your email to hellpo@talebotai.com and I'll initiate your refund.

I hope you were able to access the free story creation option. If you did make a payment by mistake, please send your email to hello@talebotai.com, and I'll promptly initiate your refund. Thank you for your feedback and understanding.

Unless you read the initial comment, that is. Not really very obvious on mobile... :(

Yeah would want to know this upfront. Feels misleading.

What could possibly go wrong?

Nothing? Given the absolute batshit quality of most human written children books

Reminds of the time I read a children's version of the Romeo and Juliet to my kids. I had not read since 9th grade and forgot about the ending. oops.

Great idea! I’ve used ChatGPT and Midjourney for exactly this with decent results. The kids enjoy the interaction with the robot storyteller, and I’m more comfortable facilitating than making something up out of whole cloth.

Have you built a product? I'd love to take a look and provide feedback.

The Young Lady's Illustrated Primer is not that far away now...

You should monetize this differently to get mass market appeal like commissions from print and shipping or show them in a popup and pay to download

Thanks for your feedback. We're thinking of adding an affordable subscription model, such as $10/mo to be able to generate 30 stories in a month.

Print is also something we're also considering.

I think the print commission is a better option. My kids definitely want to read the same story over and over.

I agree, I think print is very cool. Think about it from a child's perspective. One thing to have something generate on a screen. An entirely new experience to get your book sent to your mailbox.

This is utterly horrifying.

Have you met any children's authors by chance?

Does the PDF include illustrations generated by AI?

Yes, currently we add one cover illustration. We're planning to add more illustrations to the PDF.
