Deltic – King of Diesels [video]

The sounds of my childhood, standing on the platform at Edinburgh Waverley, Ian Allen book of BR locos in my hand. 22 of these mighty bears, 23 if you include the testbed in the science museum London.

I believe the deltic and mini deltic lived on in marine and power engineering outside of trains.

The engine had a tone peculiarly its own. Almost a song.

Quite a nice cab, if you could persuade them to let you in at Haymarket depot

Famous for it's fascinating Napier Deltic engine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napier_Deltic
