Hi All,

We are on a mission to “Make every on-call engineer’s life better”. As a first step towards that mission, we have built https://www.next9.ai, a Slack app, which helps engineers and managers stay on top of their on-call activities on a daily and weekly basis.

Using this Slack app you can

1. Schedule a daily summary of your Pagerduty incidents in the Slack channel. Use that summary as-is in your stand up meetings.

2. Get weekly report of Pagerduty incidents stats and details per your on-call rotation in the Slack channel. Save cost by opting out of the expensive Pagerduty plan which gives this report.

3. Upload a markdown file to Confluence or Clickup or any other docs tool to present the details in your on-call handoff meetings. No more manual gathering of all the incident details.

Please give it a try and let us know about your experience or any suggestions. We would love to hear feedback from all of you. It's completely free for 1 Team. You can comment here or write to us at info@next9.ai. Thank you for your help!

Interesting. How is it different from PagerDuty offered integration with Slack? We can get notifications from Pagerduty right?

Great questions! So PagerDuty does provide Slack integration. However, it posts incidents one by one as they are triggered. So your channel gets a lot of the messages. What we have built here for Daily notifications is one summary post which gives you clear idea Hom many incidents you had in a day, severity, status, assignee, etc. So you or your team or Engineering manager can easily get a sneak peak into the on-call health daily and stay on top without going through laundry list of notifications.

In addition, on weekly basis this app provides a report with .CSV file which has all the important details of PagerDuty incidents triggered during your on-call rotation. You can use it to run stats or mertics. In addition, we also provide markdown file which you can upload into your documents management system and just run your hnadoff call seamlessly without gathering all the information manually. Please note that PagerDuty charge $50+ per user/month to provide such a detailed report. Their base package only include basic report without key info. Hope this helps. Let me know if if you have any further questions.

Ok, thanks. Is there a limit on how many alerts we can get in this Slack report?

Nope, there is no limit for number of alerts. In fact our summary notifications help managers or teams to view them more intuitively.

Ok great. will take a look

Who are the targeted users for this Slack app, Engineers or Engineering managers?

Good questions. They are actually both.

For Engineers, this Slack app reduce manual data and stats gathering via markdown file which they can directly upload in the Confluence or their docs management tool for handoff meetings. You will be suprised a lot of the engineers have to go through manual counting and data gathering for this spending sometime over 1hr :(

For Engineering manager, this is also good way to get a sense of on-call daily and weekly health. ALso they can get easy metrics if they want to improve the dulture or practices. Lastly, this also reduces manual error in data gathering by Engineers
