Cryptome has shut down; at least until Assange had been freed

John Young, US citizen, prolific publisher of material US government would prefer he didn't, and first registrant for WikiLeaks.org (October 2006) has requested to be added as a co-defendant to the prosecution of Assange under the Espionage Act.
TBH I'm not seeing the angle that shutting down Cryptome brings here .. I'm sure there are people in DoD applauding the cessation of additional easily accessable documents revealing locations of bunker reserves, etc, etc, etc.
It’s possible he knows something about the audience of the content on his site, interesting to think that certain parts of our own government rely on its insights that they can’t otherwise get but can benefit from nonetheless.. really wouldn’t surprise me.
He's also requested to be added as a codefendent to at least one of Donald Trumps prosecutions .. the thing about these requests is they can be easily refused by the presiding judge who has no obligation to recognise any particular single voice or chorus of "I'm Sparticus too!".
"The Government" (which isn't a monolith and doesn't think as one) doesn't have to tyrannise an old man here (and likely won't) and gains | loses nothing by his refusal to add more documents to his site.
Pretty much the only real act here is raising awareness of the Assange case within the Cryptome readership and motivating them to do something if they wish service to resume.
They may even be a touch of "I'm getting too old for this sh*" going done and this is as good a way as any to take a vacation :)
Cryptome is closing until Julian Assange is freed. For access to the archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20230819234538/https://cryptome....
