Ask HN: Diving into freelance startup scouting – got any tips?

I've always found myself in the company of founders, absorbing their energy, stories, and the buzz of startup life. It's led me to this new decision: I'm diving into the world of freelance startup scouting.

But before I get too deep, I figured why not tap into the collective brain of HN? Here's a few questions that i would love answered.

1. How can I leverage my existing connections with founders to scout promising startups effectively?

2. Are there specific platforms or tools that scouts rely on to track and evaluate startups?

3.What's the typical compensation structure for freelance scouts? Is it usually commission-based?

4.Any anecdotes, challenges, or pearls of wisdom from those who've walked this path before would be invaluable.

5. What do you think of the design of my landing page? https://midweststartupscout.com/

As always thank you for taking the time to share your insights. Here's to new beginnings!
