Ask HN: Are there any reasons why services like UserVoice shouldn't be used?

Hi there! I'm developing an iOS app and I'm currently looking for ways to effectively collect feedback from potential users. I stumbled upon Proton's customer feedback management solution (https://protonmail.uservoice.com/) and was quite intrigued. I love the idea of having a centralized platform where users can submit and even vote on feedback.

However, I've noticed not all SAAS companies use transparent feedback collection sites like this. Is there any specific reason why? The only downside I could think of is the potential diversion of traffic from social networks.

On that note, does anyone here have experience with similar services? UserVoice seems great, but it's too pricey for my budget. Any recommendations for alternatives?
