Building a better code search experience

Hey HN!

I'm Naresh, co-founder at CodeStory (YC S23) where we're building an AI-powered mod of VSCode. Though we're still in our very early days, we have some thoughts about how the IDE can evolve to be a space where developers can leverage agents as additional developers who can do complete end-to-end development. But we're getting there by exposing all the capabilities to developers interacting with the IDE as well as the AI agent.

One of the problems we wanted to tackle first was code search within an IDE and ways to augment it to be a much more powerful experience. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the approach, feedback or open discussions about what we've built and how you'd like to see this evolving!

Hey, curious this seems alot like buildt or sourcegraph’s codey. how are you guys planning to differentiate

Hey! I am the cofounder for codestory.ai In terms of differentiation, while buildt and sourcegraph are geared towards making the code search experience the best in class, for us the search is a part of the overall experience which the developer and AI agent needs to do at the same time.

Our idea is to really rethink the editor and make it a place where both humans and AI come together to develop software together, all the tools out there today focus on AI assisting humans, we consider the humans and AI to be on the same level.

Hopefully this answers your question, happy to expand further.
