I made that mistake a few times, too. Including with Alice Miller, apparently... Anyway, I knew there was some controversy for a long time due to reading about experiences of Barbara Rogers a long time ago.

The OP is a nice reminder of how misjudging a person (conflating them with their ideas) and idolatry based on that can affect other people.
