unrelated to the current link but can anyone tell me if the apple push for windows compatibility by using wine is going to help linux or are they only doing their own thing that wont benefit linux?

What are you talking about?

Wine is a third party independent open source app for MacOS and Linux.

Apple have no involvement in the Wine development process.

Wine is open source. Why shouldn’t Apple use it? As long as they abide by the license they’re free to do as they wish.

And this is apparently for games and not for “general Windows compatibility” reasons.

Linux already has the edge over Macs in gaming. Not seeing a single problem here. Why should Apple’s initiative have any bearing on Linux gaming?
