Show HN: A tracker of the most used hosting & CDN, domain name regs and DNS
This is Stan. I'd like to share some interesting, and hopefully helpful lists/indexes that I've built recently.
Top 50 Hosting & CDN Providers - CloudFlare & Amazon hold about 55% market share together. ^1
Top 50 Domain Name Registrars - GoDaddy & Namecheap hold about 50% together ^2
Top 100 DNS Providers - Cloudflare, Amazon & GoDaddy hold about 60% of all altogether ^3
How were these lists prepared? - going through public whois records of all products listed SaaSHub. I believe that this should be a good mirror of what the tech industry is using.
I will also be logging the rankings and market share of all providers. That way we will be able to see some interesting movements. For example - which companies are growing fast and which are declining. We will need a few months of data for those stats to show up though.
Please let me know what you think. I'd be even better if you chime in with an idea how this could be improved.
