Ask HN: How come US companies hire talent at 5x salaries in comparison to India?

I live in India and this question is always in my mind.

How come US tech companies (big and small) hire talent at higher salaries than India (which also sells to the US) and still the top SaaS companies are not based out of India?

Higher churn in India (people quit after a few months) and the quality of the talent. There is talent that is at parity with US, but it's a smaller pool and the cost delta is much smaller. With India, you can choose your own price point (though that's positively correlated to the quality of the talent).
