Poor journalism, and as such, click bait. The watches are non-functional and selling for less than 3 dollars in vending machines. Now, if Casio did manage to shrink their best sellers and sell them for orders of magnitude less than their normal sized products, I might shout, "I'll buy that for a dollar!" But no need to shout. These are simply wearable toys and not timepieces.
How do you know they’re not functional?
The product page states that "本商品は時計機能はありません" (this product does not have a clock function).
Actually I'm glad that I found this article. The first article I read about these pretty much said they were functional and had a 20 year life. I was ready to give my co-worker, who's Nephew is stationed in Japan, $50 to buy the collection and ship them back to the US.
These are miniature versions of the $10 watches that are popular in Japan as "Cheap Casio." They can be purchased from gashapon machines for $3 each. The screens are printed, so they cannot be used to display the time or as a calculator.
The article said the miniature watch is a functional one. I don’t know why some commenters said it is not functioning.
That's because the article is wrong.
Because commenters actually know how to read and can find out that the article is bullshit
seems functional. how/why is this front page. i’d buy a few if they work as advertised
