No, it was never limited to grade 3 and under. Certain sections of it were. You were bamboozled by right-wing propaganda if you believed the bill only affected grade 3 and under.
Forgive us for being a little salty about it.
This just seemed like a clear situation where the original commenter was genuinely open to others' opinions but instead was dealt an insult. That's going to discourage other people from opening up their minds in the same way.
I suspect this is going to get worse, and maybe there’s some value in shouting into the ether that some people did try to explain in good faith, before it got worse. Dunno what that value might be, but maybe it’s there.
Who gets to decide what is age-appropriate? The Florida Dept of Education, naturally.
I distinctly recall that folks engaging in discussion on this fine site were not amenable to discussion of this loophole, or of it’s obvious conclusion; and instead were more apt to ask commenters why they wanted kindergarteners to learn about gay sex.
We got here precisely how a lot of people predicted it would happen.
They also want to make all undocumented immigrants flee the state while also maintaining their fruit industry
"It's posturing, we swear! We don't mean any of the parts that have consequences! We only need to look authoritarian- we promise we understand the impact of our top priorities and they're just politics! C'mon! It's meaningless!"

If he would just focus on a pro-business, pro-development message, it would resonate. Instead he largely comes across as a weird, awkward troll.
Like funneling tens of millions of dollars of state funds directly into the pockets of his campaign backers, while spending tens of millions more state dollars filing petty lawsuits against Disney and Budweiser for perceived slights, with much of that money coming from state hurricane relief funds immediately prior to hurricane season.
I don't think the insurance companies are feeling the "pro-business" administration right now, either.
The national stage doesn't matter. Most people didn't vote for Trump and he still nearly got two terms.
I really hate this timeline.
A state government small enough to fit in a child's shrinking future
this is akin to teaching 5 + 5 = 12 and being upset a governor is stepping in to fix the issue
some people are born with different neurochemistry, and are happier to live as a man or a woman. who cares?
i know it threatens the patriarchical masculine worldview, but it doesn’t hurt anyone in reality.
Should schools open up a supplemental essay so that applying students can share how they had to subvert the curriculum and then beg the college to accept their AP credits?
And no, most progressives are not working class, and basically none of them are lower class. That's pure vanity; the belief that you, a wealthy person, stand as a tribune for a group of people you yourself are not a part of. A group you're imagining in your mind.
Waiters and bartenders, for instance, are not progressives. They're either anarcho-syndicalists or they want to own the bar.
No one, but I mean no one, wants to live in the world imagined by upper-middle-class whites wherein "equity" means we should all give up stuff for people with [spew of bullshit about "disproportionately climate challenged communities of historically marginalized buzzword buzzword bullshit"]. That's just you. The rest of us, like immigrants? We think you're fucking ridiculous.
Sorry, but that's simply 100% wrong. I know enough progressives from the strata you're talking about to disprove that anecdotally - you'd have to show me data to convince me otherwise.
> Waiters and bartenders, for instance, are not progressives. They're either anarcho-syndicalists or they want to own the bar.
This shows how much you're simplifying the world. No, not literally all waiters and bartenders fall into one of those camps.

Given what you write here I don't think it makes sense to continue this conversation. Have a nice day.
That said capitalism is a near religion in the US and “runs things” for both the left and right in the government.
As for your comment—I think you’re conflating tribalism especially as enabled on social media with actual religion.
My issue with the Progressive "tribe" is that it looks at the other tribes, concludes to some degree correctly that they're a bunch of illiterate fascists, and then declares that anti-capitalist economic leveling and socialist reeducation are the only possible cure. Their small-d democratic credentials are hardly better than those of the guy with the horns.
It's been about 15 years of social media, and it's hard not to take it as a gauge of true political sentiment at this point. There aren't a lot of other outlets where we get to hear what people are thinking. But I do go to a lot of bars, both in deep red Oregon country and in ultra-blue Portland, and I'm not actually on social media, so I'm basing this off what I hear from people in person over a drink, not stuff I read on X/Twitter.
Simply put: In PDX, I own two cars, I'm evil. In Salem, I'm a Jewish liberal, I'm evil.
I've come to the conclusion that they're all idiots.
