I think old scientific papers are more easily read due to this. Before publish or perish culture enshittified science, people tended to publish fuller works, what gave more context to understand. Today findings are spread over a large number of minimally publishable papers you need to wrangle for proper context. It's like the movie franchises that span endless sequels. If you watch just one you understand nothing.
