Why charge an EV when you can just swap its battery?

Who in their right mind would take a brand new car with a battery at 100% health, go on a long road trip, and end the trip with a used battery of questionable health? When it's upwards of $20k for a new battery, you could have left your house with a $20k battery, and gotten back home with one that's at 60% health and worth a fraction of that.
You use a battery subscription and swap the battery at swap stations. Nio's cars can swap the battery in six minutes:

You can upgrade or downgrade your battery as needed for cheaper subscription payments. Nio has three battery sizes you can swap (75 kWh, 100 kWh, and 150 kWh). You can pay less for 75 kWh or pay more for 150 kWh.
