Like many people, my natural inclination is often to try to help. But that often goes against self-interest in a way that the modern tribe/community/society doesn't always balance out.
With this Neo fund equity deal, you might see a little monetary upside as a side effect of behaving in a community-oriented way.
And someone else might see that same upside because they were seeking to pick up that upside. Maybe they tried to calculate how much time&energy they should invest in that.
Maybe the motives of the two categories are compatible enough that they get along, and the more innately altruistic don't get alienated?
