Snap, TikTok, and Uber haven't. That's just a lie.
Google maybe? They haven't offered banking, they barely do social, and they haven't consolidated everything into a mega-app. A mega OS, maybe.
Facebook, perhaps the closest, but not really. The opposite: Facebook even separates its messaging out into their own apps. Creates many small apps rather than one mega app.
I would say nobody has tried it.
It's not that no body has tried. Literally every western big tech company wanted to build a super app the equivalent of WeChat. For whatever reason, it just never worked.
It remains to be seen if the economics and/or cultural differences in the West would allow for a super app.
Viber, Line, KakaoTalk
For some reasons the press doesn't want to mention them too much, I think they just want it to be 100% US made, I wonder why, specially when they mention "for the west", "for the world" :)
