Speaking of Jim Crow laws, it would likely be legally challenged in my red "no-CRT" state if someone were to teach a unit about this book.

Those "no-CRT" views basically amount to "it's illegal to teach about how shitty white people were in the past, because somehow that makes today's white people look bad"

Yeah, they twist it and pretend it means all white people historically or now are responsible for atrocities. Plenty of white people sheltered escaped slaves, fought in the civil war and fought for civil rights. No one denies that. It's a propaganda deception technique, like how they twisted BLM to mean "only black lives matter". Same thing with anti-woke crap. Take a term/phrase, add their own twisted meaning and crusade against that, but really, it's just another dog whistle or a bedsheet/hood that covers the real intent/person to limit their exposure and maximize their support.

I think many people also need to remember that in this case white people means “white Americans”, not white people from anywhere else. We had nothing to do with any of it!

YouTube's algorithm recently recommended me a video which presented a compelling case that US slavery truly ended in 1942. It included references to this book. Here's the link, for anyone curious: https://youtu.be/j4kI2h3iotA

According to the 13th amendment it never really ended. The film 13th

A fictionalised version of this is featured in the (HP inspired) "Lovecraft Country" books.

I believe there is a TV adaption, but I've not seen it.

I thought the TV series was quite good.

Black Mirror should do a futuristic episode based on this. With apps or smart self driving cars that avoid hostile people and businesses.

With the anti "crt/woke" people these days, I am surprised there is no app like this.
