I don’t understand how a mistake like that happened on Uber’s end. It seems trivial (and automatic) to identify the proper currency being charged to the user. As someone who’s used Uber to travel internationally before, it’s a major red flag.

You must not be a software developer/engineer lol

This smacks of some kind of microservice failure causing a bad default/fallback currency identifier value to be used before the transaction made it to the card payment rails.
