Framework Laptop 16 Deep Dive – Battery and Speakers

> To enable substantially better audio performance, we connected an ALC1318 smart amp to the ALC295 dedicated to driving the woofers. The main “smart” part of it is IV sensing, where the amp measures speaker current and voltage and runs algorithms to model transducer temperature and excursion. With that, the amp can push the speakers much harder without risking damaging them.

Neat capability. Pretty convenient if a little .ore expensive having a hardware solution to this problem.

I wonder if it has a temp sensor or not? Gotta wonder what happens when it's a real hot day out or worse, sitting in a baking car; does the speaker output get adjusted to a lower level in these cases, where there's less thermal headroom to use?

Not totally related, but I definitely noticed Apple’s laptop speakers tend to sound ever so slightly better than other built-in speakers. I remember hearing about there being a patent causing this, but can’t find a source.
