Ask HN: Is Reddit imposing rate limits too?

I use Teddit to browse Reddit and lately have been getting many "429 - Too Many Requests" errors thrown, which I've never seen before. Has Reddit imposed rate limits similar to Twitter?

Seems so; I'm seeing same error all the time now - tho, some instances are able to pull hot posts listing but not new.

But refreshing doesn't work for 2 hours (2023-07-12 23:50 CEST/UTC+2 atm)

Edit: should be 07-13, not 07-12

It's happening on Libreddit too. Been getting the "Too Many Requests" error for the past couple of days. But a quick refresh fixes it for me.

Sadly the quick refresh is no longer working for me, and going through all of the instances on Libredirect, they all seem to be constantly down now.

It appears that they are trying to deal with this issue here:

Yep. I can no longer access Libreddit from any instance. But teddit[0] still seems to be working.
