"Blood Falls" is a glacier with a very blood-colored discharge. The study analyzed it using several different spectral and electron-microsopy methods, focusing on those employed on Mars rovers and orbiters. Much of it was over my head, but clearly showed "it's complicated". It was fascinating to see how the different methods complimented each other, and how the mechanics of sample retrieval and analysis can alter the results. The study concluded with reflections on analysis of Mars samples.
