NACS was open-sourced anyway, so anyone can build their own chargers. This is such a bizarre & far-fetched article. I mean, the guy owns Twitter, but you really think he needs some convoluted Dr. Evil-esque plan to collect data about users? Uh, okay.

Gas stations are a $150B industry. No way someone would want to disrupt that, especially with federal and state EV subsidies and consumers from every other EV platform coming to you because those platforms are incompetent in building charging out.

The Tesla mission statement is “to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.” Opening up Superchargers is in alignment with it.
