My threads feed is pretty bad. There's no way to see posts only from accounts you follow. Somehow meta has determined that I'm very interested in baseball, basketball and MMA even though I'm not American and I have little interest in any sports other than motorsports. There's no way to tell it "show me less/no content on this topic". So I'm kind of trapped looking at stuff I just don't care about.

It is too soon to tell but my intuition here is that this platform is primarily going to be driven by bluecheckmarks and influencers. And it is in Meta's interest to display that as the main feed. If and when the people we actually follow start posting, they might add a follower tab

My guess is this platform will primarily be driven by AI bots.

Yes, the age of public anonymous social media is ending.

Isn’t there a mute or hide option ?

Muting individual accounts is not useful when there are hundreds of accounts with baseball crap.

In the list of missing things, I would also mention that Europe is missing.

I wonder if that will ever change, seems like something Meta would keep.

This was intentional to build the platform out on day one and do as much damage to twitter as possible. I'm sure they will break out the platform but every ig user can get a threads account with a few clicks.

I have a gut feeling threads will do well enough. It is a good time to be deploying any new social media with the reddit shenanigans and recent twitter decision making. Many people are looking for a new platform.

I think plenty have been burned by FB/IG. I'd have preferred to join bluesky but they're gating signups.

But agreed that it will do well-enough.

I'd love to see some data to help ground these numbers in reality. How many tweets does Twitter see on a daily basis? How many posts does Instagram see? Etc.

If only it wasn’t Facebook as the owner, I’d be interested.

A lot of bots there. Not worth my time to compete attention with bots. I'll wait at least 6mths before for this to settle with more real humans. Meta is infamous for botty and buggy products when creating their own. I'm worth more than being their FB users or testing guinea pigs.

Alien vs Predator .. whoever wins we lose!

A lot of the posts I see seem to be re- or cross posts from other sites.
