Ask HN: Concerned about .com takedowns. ICANN mtg in my city soon. Can I help?

I am concerned about the growing trend of second-level domain-name takedowns that skip due process, or that apply one country's laws to businesses from other countries. There's an ICANN meeting in my city soon (ICANN 43), for which I've signed up (as a member of the general public). 1) Is there any way I can make a difference there, regarding this issue? (As secondary questions: 2) Have any of you attended these meetings before? 3) Have you seen any ICANN policy change significantly because of comments made in the public forums?)
