FWIW, maintaining a language is really, really hard. That said, this is going to kill adoption until it's either addressed or forked. While I doubt it is a major driving factor for D, no informed tech lead in their right mind should approve or endorse this language for any commercial stack.
What troubles me more is the attitude towards the reports. Or hiding behind "hey you can always give us money to do what you want." The maintainers are absolutely right in principle that they really answer to no one and donate their time, but this plus the constant breaking changes is going to burn through any trust left. Things aren't perfect, people aren't perfect, shit breaks, mistakes are made; getting defensive about it isn't going to make things better.
