Reddit breaks the law to quell protests [video][15 mins]

This basically made me disinterested in going to Reddit. I used to be a casual user, but now I can’t even delete my posts and that just is a line I won’t tolerate

Are there any California business lawyers here that can verify what Louis Rossmann is stating is correct?

I am going to half answer as a guy with a law license in California. My guess is Reddit thinks that as long as your username is deleted they’re OK. This is problematic if you have posts that identify you. I’m also going to guess that that distinction hasn’t been tested in court yet, I could be wrong. I’m also going to guess that “malicious compliance” is sufficient.

California has pretty activist courts, so they might have a case. But you’re looking not so much for a business lawyer as someone who specifically focuses on this law.

Many (most?) things aren’t as black and white as most people think in the law.

This is problematic if you have posts that identify you.

I suppose time will tell if a number of people take this to court. Thankyou for answering that.
