Had diner with Tom once and realized how … unaccomplished I was. The guy is amazingly smart and kind, maybe one day I’ll grow up to be like him ;)

I hope one day my projects page looks as cool as his. Until then, I'll keep adding one project at a time.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!

Discovered this guy created geojson.io. A nifty online tool I use occasionally to sketch out custom geojson files.

He's a legend

I'm surprised this link works and doesn't redirect given https://macwright.com/2022/09/15/hacker-news.html

For some reason this URL has the noreferer attribute set. I didn't know that this was set on HN for any domains other than the Asahi Linux domain.

It was never set just for one domain, though some people jumped to that conclusion.

I still don't know what the right call is. We may go back to the way it was before.

Flagged because Tom has written before about not wanting his website to be linked to from HN, and we should respect that.

Do you have a reference to that? Not doubting just interested to read what he wrote about it.

Edit: Here it is (removed link) (ironically another link to his site, sorry about that.)

Found it easily through googling Tom MacWright and Hacker News.

If you search his blog archive for "Hacker News" you'll find it. Sorry, I intentionally didn't link it here for the same reason :)

Thanks, removed my link to it in the post. Interesting philosophical/semantic concept though, if we tell people how to go there isn't it the same as linking (probably no since it requires a bit more effort from the user which might mean it is less traffic and maybe more of the 'right' traffic?
