I use Atom feeds for Github release / tag notification. The format is:

  https://github.com/org/repo/tags.atom
  https://github.com/org/repo/releases.atom

For example:

  https://github.com/php/php-src/tags.atom
  https://github.com/textpattern/textpattern/releases.atom

Chuck a bunch of those into your reader of choice, it works really well.

For a moment I puzzled over how you’re applying XSLT to these but eventually figured out this comment isn’t about the topic of discussion.

Custom XSLT could be a fun feature for a feed reader.
