Ask HN: How come the Discuss button is disabled on my post?

I just posted a link to a YouTube channel I created several years ago, to help people learn mathematics. A few seconds after posting, the "Discuss" button was disabled on my post, even though it seems to be on for everyone else. I also don't see the post in an incognito window. I guess it's shadowbanned? Am I shadowbanned as well? Going to post this and see if the result is the same. Or perhaps it is something about that link. I'm not going to post the link here.

I clicked 'vouch' now on the submission. Probably auto-disabled because youtube videos don't fit the Show HN guidelines usually. It just to avoid "Show HN: I wrote a blog post about ..." instead of the user doing a normal submission. https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html

Thank you very much! After a decade of using HN, I still have very little idea of what goes on under the hood. I appreciate what the mods do here. As long as I can deal with a human I think it'll work out OK :)

Yes, now it all seems to work. Maybe it was a glitch.

I was worried I was shadowbanned, after posting a video from YouTube warning about GPT-5. That one post doesn't show up at all in https://news.ycombinator.com/submitted?id=EGreg and after that, these posts weren't showing up.

Anyway, I will try to stay away from criticizing GPT and AI too much, because I think it might trigger someone to take action on my account, and I would prefer to keep being having productive conversations on HN.

I dunno if I would flag that video, but my impulse would be to consider flagging it.

Not because its GPT, but because I am highly skeptical of any YT video with a emotional/clickbaity video title, no matter the subject.

You can't see that post because it is marked 'dead' and you likely haven't toggled the 'showdead' option on your HN profile to 'yes'.

As an aside, I don't think anyone would take action on your account just because you're critical of GPT and AI. It is how you chose to express your criticism that can land you in hot water I think.

If you submit a submission, you don't see that it's dead even if you have showdead on. It shows up as any other submission. You have to log out and verify. You see if it gets flagged though.
