Stuff is only a bombshell if it's uncharacteristic. If you look at political scandals, they only affect people you'd be surprised to find involved. It's why a certain unnamed orange man gets away with stuff - the facts that he's done $egregious_thing contains no new information about his character, so who cares.

Same is true here. True or not, nobody is surprised or shocked that such a thing could happen or that China could behave in whatever way. There's simply no new information content in any revelation. So it basically means nothing, even if "finally" proven. What changes with this knowledge?

(Versus, if it turned out it was some evil Luxemburgish plot, that would be news)

I don't think it "means nothing" as you say.

It means Fauci, in spite of Obama's caution, funded research in a low-level containment facility in China, research that created a virus that killed millions and demonstrated Obama was correct. I won't call that "nothing".
