Hey Google? When are you going to fix international roaming?
OK, I get it. This could be helpful.
Except, a lot of times, it isn't. At all. And the worst part is Chrome does not provide for a way to sensibly control this.
The only way to "fix" this is to lobotomize Chrome with various settings that will, effectively, break lots of things. Apparently you have to set a preferred language, disable location-based suggestions, disable predictive services and more.
I don't understand why Chrome doesn't have a "Home country" setting along with an easy UI button that only shows-up when you travel outside of that country to give you the option to localize when and if you need it.
To say this is annoying is an understatement.
Other companies do this as well. Surprisingly, some web email providers do it. You are from the US, travel to Japan and your UI is in Japanese.
The only reliable way I know to avoid this is to use a VPN while travelling, which sometimes can be a pain in the ass as some services get smart about VPN detection and fight you all the way.
Microsoft: This is an opportunity for differentiation by adding more sensible localization tools to Edge. Keep it simple: When I am in Japan, if I want a Japanese localized experience, let me chose that option, otherwise, maintain my home-region localization, experience and tools.
