Anecdotally, definitely true. And I'm astounded what people accept as "ok" performance these days given the relative power of the hardware we all have in our pockets, on our desktops and in the cloud. Recently tackled a performance problem for a client where I reduced the load time of a certain web dashboard from over two minutes to around eight seconds. She was delighted with the new response time; I was disappointed that this is now considered acceptable for a simple set of database reads with no really complex processing involved.
