We need to keep CEOs away from AI regulation

At a minimum, it would be really nice to demand some more transparency into the training content of the models and clarify how copyright status is affected in the inputs versus the outputs.

CEOs just need to be stopped in general, but I'll take this too.

If AI is really some huge threat to humanity that these tech CEOs are altruistically protecting us from, how about they convince us of the earnestness of their position by working to fix the last humanity-enslaving mess they created and passing comprehensive privacy legislation ala the GDPR? Bonus points for it applying to the traditional financial surveillance companies ("credit bureaus").

These CEO speeches and hang wringing seems more of a concerted effort to stop open source and protect their proprietary approaches than any actual concern for humanity.

“Only we can be trusted with this please forbid anybody else from touching it” is not an argument I’m generally open to listening to coming from the private sector.
