Taking from the public domain, but never contributing their own, has been the business model of Disney ever since their inception! Not surprising that companies of today follows the same foot steps.

Best and clearest cut case on the issue. I am looking forward to the "ask reddit", "ask twitter", "ask hacker news" exclusive models... Maybe bring back Ask Jeeves?

Hypocrisy at it's finest. Businessinsider complaining that content "created by companies" is being used by OpenAI, Google and Anthropic ...

What content do they mean, exactly?

Let's just say I disagree at the characterization of this content as being owned by those companies.

This needs to go in open source licenses.

It's really sad to me that companies will so readily and routinely do every bad thing that isn't explicitly disallowed by law even when they're fully aware they're doing a bad thing. It's at a point where it'd almost be easier to just deny them all activities which do not appear on the "short list of approved activities".
