Ask HN: Which is the best programming book you have ever read?

30 hour BASIC by Clive Prigmore. I saved 4.95 for it and bought it from W H Smiths in Durham, UK.

Taught me BASIC 40 years ago as a 10 year old and started the rest of my career.

3 books that I found excellent, each in its own way:

The Pragmatic Programmer by David Thomas and Andrew Hunt

A philosophy of software engineering by John Ousterhout

Domain-driven Design: Tackling Complexity in the Heart of Software by Eric Evans

Learn You a Haskell for Great Good! A Beginner's Guide Book by Miran Lipovača
