I’m literally quitting my cushy senior executive job at megacorp X because I would rather program remotely at a discount. I don’t seek any sympathy for my situation, I’m doing good. But I refuse to be forced into the past and if they value my corporeal presence over my ability to make value for them, then they get neither. My happiness and sanity is worth more than their obsessive need to control everyone and force people to work the way management works best, rather than the way the employee produces best. I support folks that dig working in office, but I resent being told to work their way if it doesn’t work for me.
