Ask HN: Why does the web-interface of WhatsApp show my history when it starts?

When I open WhatsApp on my desktop browser, it shows the notifications in the left side-bar shuffling, as if it is replaying the history of my notifications.

Why is that?

PS: I use Firefox on Ubuntu.

It behaves nothing like that in macOS

Good to know, but now it's even more strange that they have two different implementations for two similar platforms (I use Firefox on Ubuntu).
