I fear for our youth sometimes. More times than not, in my humble experience, it’s the people insisting on the use of digital everything that hold up the process during my “airport experience”.
“Oh I was just messing around with Spotify in line. Give me a second to pull up the app”
“Oh the brightness is too low on my phone. Let’s futz around with that for 2 minutes to get the barcode to scan”
“Oh the screen on my phone is all smashed to crap so you have to scan it juuuust right”
Obviously, you can have similar issues with paper passes but in my experience people who have an unadulterated paper pass in hand tend to be the ones moving quickest through areas where it needs to be presented.
Digital is great, but paper is nice sometimes.
