Longer answer:
We already have engagement/ad optimization AI. Manipulation is literally Facebook's/Google's many billion dollar business. To me, its scary how most people didn't worry about this over the past decade when its already (for instance) eroding democracy and degrading mental health.
But I guess the worry is the "accessibility" of this manipulation now. On one hand thats a valid concern and extremely scary, but on the other, I am glad Big Tech will be robbed of this exclusive power. I'd rather have the chaotic, mostly broken internet we are barreling towards now rather than the ad driven corporate dystopia were slowly heading towards before.
The explanation was, by addressing customer concerns and questions earlier, the customer could make up their minds faster. It removed doubt and agonizing over uncertainty.
It's not all bad, this AI thing. Some of it is helpful, removes pain points and confusion.
