I read "DeSantis's aggressively conservative political agenda points" as aggressively Christian agenda. What boggles my mind is the conservative desire for small-government, yet we have the government defining who can parade, who can have what surgery, who can use what bathroom, etc.

Small gov for rich white xtian dudes, the boot for everyone else

And even who can buy what property. He takes the mantle of conservatism, but his values aren't conservative at all, and more outlets need to point that out. What he is, definitionally, is an authoritarian.

Conservatives have always been pro-elite authoritarians since the term was introduced as a political label.

Its a weird effect of branding done to bring Right-Libertarians into the Republican fold that over the last few decades people have started getting accused of not being “real conservatives” for not adhering to libertarian views, but that’s the most authentically conservative thing in the world.

I don't know that that's exactly accurate. Traditional Republicans have a long history of small government rhetoric that appeals to right - Libertarians. The degree to which that they have backed up those views is obviously debatable

Because what the race for President needed was another Florida Man...

Ron DeSantis stands accused of war crimes, according to the testimony of several prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. He has been notably and particularly evasive about his military service in interviews during his governorship. Whatever his supporters think of his other policies, I hope that they don't ignore this obviously disqualifying stain on his record.

If anything, it will make him more popular to his base.
