ahh yes a magical world where anyone can write “enterprise” code with AI but no one has the skills to figure out why it’s broken and nor the skills to fix it.
I don't think that's what they are saying. Anything which increases the productivity of software development meaningfully will change the buy/build choice.
Does it really increase the productivity for general development tasks?
For most tasks generative AI requires more time than it saves for me (stone soup).
It might change in the future
It saves me enormous amounts of time when I'm just outside my comfort zone. Hours and hours of fiddling around, researching, trying things etc can be reduced to minutes.
So... Enterprise code as usual then?
There's a lot of very good enterprise software and developers out there.
I have decided to undertake a complete revamp of one of my projects by exclusively utilizing AI-generated content, and there are a few compelling reasons behind this choice. Firstly, the outcome is remarkably versatile and outperforms my own contributions. Secondly, I have no reservations about openly sharing the code with others. And lastly, the process of infusing each function and package with my own touch of visionary flair has proven to be an immensely enjoyable pursuit.
