Stupid position.. Australia has mandatory voting and there is a fine for not voting, but anyone who does not want to formerly place a vote can just cross the page and put it in a ballot box to avoid making a decision - but compulsory voting here is not because Australia is an Authoritarian country, we're just not stupid..
I’m sorry but this is a bullshit article. Turkey’s voter turnout has nothing to do with the fine, people are irrationally politicized to the point where they don’t talk about anything else. Turks wouldn’t care about a 8€ fine… Besides, why post this here on Hacker News? What sort of relevancy does it have with this platform?
