In Philadelphia, Hyundai and Kia thefts grew 400 and 700 percent, respectively, from 2019 to 2022.
The ignition could be turned and the car started with a USB dongle. This is a pretty serious product defect. No car is perfectly theft-proof, but I think any reasonable third party would conclude no purchaser would have expected a USB dongle to work.
