I wonder if it would be helpful to add heat pipe cooling to speakers? Are they producing useful sound while being driven like this?

Marcan had some posts earlier this year about this from the work on linux for macbooks (and hints at it in the comments) - yes, it is useful to drive them that hard but can only be done for a short time, so the driver has to model that and cut back before it reaches damaging levels.
