Ask HN: Experienced Back End Dev Learning Front End – Advice on Modern Tools?
I've been a senior software engineer for many years, focusing primarily on backend development. I know the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (and even worked professionally with Node.js), but my exposure to modern frontend tools and frameworks is quite limited.
The team that I'm transitioning into has a growing need for some front-end work, and I've decided to take the plunge. However, the vast array of options out there has left me a bit overwhelmed. I'm looking to familiarize myself with modern tools like Sass, Handlebars, as well as frameworks like React, Svelte, and Ember.
What are the best resources (online courses, books, tutorials, etc.) to learn these tools and frameworks? Are there any specific learning paths you'd recommend for an experienced developer transitioning from backend to frontend?
