Spotify ejects thousands of AI-made songs in purge of fake streams

Boomy is a company that lets users easily create AI generated music. Boomy registered with Spotify as a music label. Boomy users can release their songs on Spotify and get an 80% cut of the ad revenue that Spotify pays to Boomy. Spotify knows Boomy's business model and didn't take action when they were just letting people create and release AI generated music under their own names.
It looks like a bunch of Boomy users were publishing to Spotify, then creating a bunch of free ad-based accounts to automatically listen to their own tracks 24/7 and get their cut of the ad revenue. I did some casual searching on TikTok and Youtube videos about how to make money with Boomy and Spotify, and there are tons of videos telling you how to do this. It's tricky because Boomy isn't technically responsible for the clickfraud, but they do enable it to such an extent that 7% of their catalog was apparently used in this way.
"I think that is part of what is making it difficult for the untrained ear to differentiate between these AI-generated and non-AI generated tunes," music journalist Hattie Lindert told CBS News on Tuesday. "It's pretty convincing when there are so many Drake tracks that AI can train from."
IMO that's another example of plagiarism, right?
