Small teams are the future
AI is the new Linux
No single entity can own it or control it
This will impact everything in tech
He joined Twitter just few months ago boasting how he can run Twitter with 5 guys and he alone will fix search & UI (he fixed nothing and quit a few weeks later).
So I'd be really happy if we stop propagandizing this tech bro bullshit that suggests everyone in the industry is just twiddling their thumbs all day, and start respecting the work of our colleagues more.
Do you feel that being aggressive on a tech forum is helping your cause?
"See, he fired 90% of the company and Twitter is doing just fine!" (ignoring he can't ship any major feature, and also we have bugs and outages every week). "We should do the same, big teams are doomed, small teams are the future."
Meanwhile, I'm really "being aggressive" by saying "I'd be really happy if we stop propagandazing this tech bro BS [...] and start respecting the work of our colleagues."
I suppose aggression is in the eye of the beholder in this case. Geohot was extremely dismissive and arrogant when he joined Twitter, which prompted me to explore what's his actual background (myths aside) and what I found was a lot of Geohot air and nothing else.
It's always the people who never had to build something significant who always have the most cocky armchair advice for those who do, funny that.
If you're victim of this advice, I urge you that we recall our common sense, instead of propagating this toxicity further.
I get it, it’s hard sometimes
You will hate this advice, but hopefully that will help you remember it
