Ask HN: what visa do most European's use for Y Combinator?

I have searched in a number of places and have not found a definitive answer to this - surely they are not using the Business Visitor as part of the visa waiver program as they would be doing too much work

Who was the Canadian Y Combinator guy who just got burnt badly trying to do that?

Canadians can't use the Visa Waiver Program (nationals of north american countries aren't covered by it)

Would like to know what happened to that guy. It does seem like you would invalidate a standard visa waiver business visa

Does that really apply to someone working every day in an office - even if they don't earn a salary

I guess 'training' could apply: Participating in a training program that is not designed primarily to provide employment. Will receive no payment or income from a U.S. based company/entity, other than an expense allowance or expense reimbursement related to traveler’s stay.

Plenty of tech consultancy firms and investment banks use the visa waiver to send developers to the US for short stints, and if that's considered reasonable (I've never heard of someone being rejected on that basis), YC is probably fine.
