I am kind of curious how it got this far. Was the software never audited in any way? Were the defects so subtle that they could not be reproduced? Was no manual audit required for the convictions?

I get that the Post Office might be lazy. The contractor absolutely might be lazy. Even the prosecution I suppose. But the defense didn't demand any kind of proof?
